We are at a critical moment in Johnstown’s history. The steel industry is poised for potential rebound. The nation is starting to understand that we are in a war against terrorism. We need steel plants to defend our country against terrorism. It will do us no good if we get pulled into a war and have to send to Brazil, Japan, China, or Germany for steel necessary to build tanks. Currently there is one steel plant in the United States capable of making that type of plate. We need, as a State and as a Nation, to save and rebuild the steel plants so that we are protected in the event of war.

The coal industry is rebounding rapidly. Our country is beginning to realize our natural resources are capable of lessening our dependence on foreign oil. These investments will bring down gas prices. We need to use incentives today to continue coal fuel investment so that our industry is able to provide more employment in the coal industry.

Lastly, we need to invest in education in Johnstown by seeing to it that a college education is available and affordable to all students. If I am elected, I will focus my energy on ensuring sufficient money so that college students can come home to Johnstown and work in Johnstown’s industries – to cement and build the relationship which will help them choose living in this great community as the best community in the best state in the best nation in the world.
